This is an amazing opportunity to help in Laramie Foster Closet’s mission to address the immediate needs of children entering the foster care system in our community. Laramie Foster Closet also serves children being raised by grandparents and foster children aging out of foster care. AmeriCorps members will support Laramie’s foster parents and an ever-increasing population of foster children in crisis as a result of addiction, neglect, and abuse.
AmeriCorps members will support Laramie’s foster parents and an ever-increasing population of foster children in crisis as a result of addiction, neglect, and abuse. This includes the organization of Supplies, organization of supply drives, the pick-up and logging in of donations, assisting the preparation and set up events, participating in Laramie Foster Closet events. Members will also assist in direct services such as foster parent nights out coordination, encouragement packages for all holidays and special events (birthdays, Christmas Giving Trees, Halloween Boo Buckets, Thanksgiving Turkey Treats, Valentine’s Day Valentines, St. Patrick’s Day, and Easter Egg Yard Bombing), and assist with general foster parent needs.
This positions requires members to complete 300 hours of service.
INTERFAITH OF NATRONA COUNTY, CASPER WY

Interfaith’s mission is to provide emergency services, as well as to fill in the gaps with basic survival needs and support services to those living at or below the poverty level in Natrona County. We aim to promote self-sufficiency and the ability to live independently. Our services include: Assistance with utility shut-off notices, Clothing Vouchers, Food Vouchers, 24 hour Emergency food bags, Fuel Vouchers, Steel-Toed boots for employment, Personal Care items, Diapers- Child & Adult, Minor Medical and Dental assistance, Prescription assistance, Assistance obtaining Birth Certificates, Drivers' License or State ID. Shelter Assistance is provided to those who have a temporary interruption or decrease in income and have experienced extenuating circumstances. Assistance can be in the form of one month's rent, a security deposit to gain housing, or a possible short-term stay in a motel until housing can be obtained.
The AmeriCorps member will provide support to the organization’s Case Managers and Executive Director by meeting with clients on their first visit and identifying their needs and concerns. The AmeriCorps member will work with the Case Managers and the Executive Director to identify appropriate support services and referrals and do follow-up with clients as needed to ensure their success.
This positions requires members to complete 1200 hours of service.
WORLAND COMMUNITY GARDEN, WORLAND WY

The Worland Community Garden (WCG) provides fresh produce to residents in Washakie County and builds community. The WCG is a place to share with children the joys of playing in the dirt and eating fresh vegetables, and to share with adults low-cost and simple methods for growing food. Beyond education and produce donations, the WCG is brings people together to work and learn from each other, and build community all while growing healthy and nutritious foods.
Member activities for this position will include planning, planting, tending, and harvesting the WCG, helping with educational programs, managing volunteers, hosting garden tours, and networking with community groups. The WCG provides 2500 lbs of produce and cut flowers annually for our community partners and volunteers.
This positions requires members to complete 450 hours of service.
